Caltrate Calcium, is an active dietary supplement containing calcium. This dietary supplement is ideal for those who want to maintain the necessary level of calcium in the body, especially if their diet does not contain enough products containing this mineral. There is also another supplement option on the market, Caltrate 600 + D plus minerals. This powerful complex remedy, in addition to calcium, contains additional components such as: vitamin D, magnesium, zinc and copper. These minerals play an important role in the effectiveness of the preparation, having properties that promote better calcium absorption.

How Caltrate's main and supplemental ingredients work

Calcium: This main mineral, in Caltrate, is essential for maintaining the strength of the bone system and teeth. It also plays an important role in normal muscle function and nervous system function.

Vitamin D: Helps calcium to be fully absorbed in the intestines, which increases the effectiveness of the product.

Magnesium: Normalizes the nervous system and maintains muscle tone.

Zinc: Enhances the healing process and is important for the normal functioning of the immune system.

Copper: Strengthens blood vessels and supports connective tissue metabolism.

Together, these ingredients form a powerful complex to support a healthy bone system and the well-being of the entire body.

What conditions Caltrate 600 is used for

This product is prescribed for various problems related to the bone system, mineral imbalance in the body and other conditions.

Calcium deficiency: The drug replenishes the lack of calcium in the body, which leads to impaired tooth structure and bone weakness that increases the risk of frequent fractures.

Osteoprosis: Caltrate 600 used in this serious and frequent disease helps to strengthen bone tissue and prevent bone thinning.

Injuries: During the period of recovery from fractures, Caltrate Calcium provides the body with sufficient levels of calcium and other minerals for better bone fusion and accelerated bone regeneration.

Menopause: At this stage of a woman's life cycle, when estrogen levels and the ability of bones to retain calcium decrease, the risk of osteoporosis increases. Caltrate 600 plus minerals may be prescribed to compensate for this deficiency.

Prevention: For people leading an active lifestyle or on a strict diet, Caltrate 600 plus with vitamin D and minerals can act as a prophylactic agent to maintain optimal mineral levels in the body.

Dosage

To maintain bone tissue and prevent calcium deficiency, it is sufficient to take one tablet of Caltrate 600 per day.

In the presence of osteoporosis and in case of bone fracture, the dosage can be increased to two tablets per day. Also, this dose may be applicable during menopause in women and elderly people.

The first results from the use of Caltrate Calcium may be observed in the first few weeks, but a significant improvement in bone density and general condition can be expected within a year of regular use.

Interaction of Caltrate 600 with other drugs

Medications

  • Bisphosphonates used to treat osteoporosis may interact with calcium, reducing their effectiveness.
  • Calcium may decrease the absorption of tetracycline and fluoroquinolone antibiotics.
  • Concurrent use of thyroid hormone medications and Caltrate, may interfere with the absorption of thyroid hormones.

Foods

  • Spinach, rhubarb, cereals: These foods contain phytates and oxalates, which can bind to calcium and reduce calcium absorption. It is best to avoid consuming these foods and Caltrate tablets at the same time.
  • Caffeine: Excessive consumption of caffeine can increase the excretion of calcium from the body, which reduces the effectiveness of Caltrate.

Mineral supplements

  • Iron: As with some antibiotics, calcium may interfere with the absorption of iron from supplements.
  • Magnesium: Although Caltrate contains magnesium, taking additional magnesium supplements may require dosage adjustments, as excess magnesium may cause side effects.

If it is necessary to use the above products with Caltrate 600 plus with vitamin D and minerals, you should take a break of at least three hours between taking these products and Caltrate.
